Tuong and cheo are both Vietnamese traditional theatrical art forms. Vietnamese tuong originated in China and was influenced by Chinese opera.
Cheo, however, is authentically Vietnamese. If Chinese traditional theatre is exemplified by Beijing opera and Japanese theatre by noh dramas, then traditional Vietnamese theatre is best represented by cheo.
